Do animals have souls philosophy

Personally however i believe they do and also believe that if there is a heaven they go there just as children and infants do because all of them are innocent. We are in a word ensouled. Yes plants and animals have souls. Aristotle asserted that only humans had rational souls while the locomotive souls shared by all animals human and nonhuman endowed animals with instincts suited to their successful reproduction and survival. Since then he and other pro consciousness scientists have concluded that animals have systems not only for seeking but also rage lust maternal care panic play and fear. Since animals and plants are living things they have souls but not in the sense in which human beings have souls. The soul is the principle of life. In the absence of speech there is no definitive evidence that animals have souls. Our souls are rational theirs aren t and ours are rational because they re spiritual not material. Animals and plants can t do anything which transcends the limitations of matter. It is not christian including catholic teaching or jewish teaching that animals no matter how intelligent have rational souls. Dog heaven is very different than human heaven humans go to heaven to receive reward for all the good deeds which they chose to do during their corporeal lifetime. Angels do not have souls because they have no material component to them. Aristotle believed that animals and humans both possess the sensible soul. Both are equally devoid of thought and therefore they are both equally soul less.

They are simply called spirits. In fact all living creatures that are in the material universe are alive because of their souls. Belief would seem to imply conviction. If we are identified with our bodies we have souls for through our bodies we are identified with all creation as long as we are alive and therefore feeling we are connected to one another and to the natural world. Conviction would seem to imply that a creature was persuaded because one can not be convinced of something without being persuaded in some way. They have spirits but not the equivalent of human souls. Their souls are however reunited with their divine source. Animals however do not have free choice and therefore cannot be rewarded or punished for their deeds. And because descartes dualism is so absolute this effectively makes animals and rocks the same kind of thing.
